Pro Bivy

When MSR set out to build the ultimate Pro Bivy, they enlisted the help of professional mountaineers to get it right. The result? An ultralight, quick-pitch bivy that fits between rocky outcroppings and withstands raging mountain weather. With ripstop nylon, full waterproofing, and breathable fabric, you can sleep well knowing you're protected from the elements before setting out on another day of testing your physical and mental capabilities in the alpine. And while you're chasing your objective, the bivy packs down to the size of a water bottle and weighs less than a pound so you can continue your light-and-fast mission on the mountain.

Bad for cold weather

This bivy doesn't have a zipper and woke up extremely cold

Good Buy

Bought this Bivy earlier this year and have tried it camping a couple times and backpacking once. It is very light and packs up small. We use a tarp over our Bivy's and have not had a chance to try it in bad weather yet. So far very impressed with the quality.

Most comfortable bivy for me

This bivy does have some short comings, as the previous reviewer stated; but for my use it works great. I use it with a poncho tarp over my head and chest area, and a porch to my side for cooking and gear storage I've only set up once without a tarp and had a light rain fall. I found if I turned on my side I could keep the rain out quite effectively. I would not use this bivy in the snow without a tarp however as one move would allow snow in if mosquito netting is zipped down I'm 6'1 240lbs and this is the most comfortable bivy I've ever used. Quality is not a question. The only thing that may or may not work for you is not being able to completely close off the bivy for you.

Most condition bivy

I have tried this bivy twice now both times with rain and as much as I want to like this bivy have found water being able to make it through the mesh as there is no rain gutter or zip or Velcro to stop water. The other problem with this design is in high winds the flap catches the wind like a sail which doesn't help for a good nights sleep. The good things are the materials are excellent and have found very little condensation build up. Also very roomy and easy to get in and out of. Summing up needs better rain protection or use with fly or change name to most condition bivy.
